Not Your Average Intro to Drawing Class - Spring Sessions

  • Shades of Gray Tattoo Studio 844 Gulley Drive Clayton, NC, 27520 United States (map)

Just as the class title implies, this isn’t your average intro to drawing class! No drawing bowls of fruit, no competitive classmates and no harsh critiques. Just a good, chill place to learn about drawing materials, useful drawing techniques and have a good time creating together. For this class you will be provided a comprehensive assortment of drawing materials and we will discuss and compare a variety of drawing materials from paper and eraser types to what the weird numbers on pencils mean so you can learn how and when to best use them.

On day one of class you will be given three projects and will have the opportunity to work at your own pace and complete as many of them as you feel comfortable with over the course of the class series. Throughout the course of our time together we will cover a variety of techniques - we will use a grid method to learn sighting techniques so that you will be able render things more accurately, and we will talk about how light and shadow work to help create depth.

One ticket will cover the three Sundays (March 17th, 24th and 31st) and I have limited the amount of attendees so that I have ample time to work one on one with each and every one of you to make sure you get the guidance you need and want to be successful. With over 20 years of professional art experience behind me, I understand the value of the joy folks find in art. My goal is to help folks break down some of the internal barriers we face when trying to draw, and I’m excited to work on building your confidence with you!

Your class fees will cover the following:

  • Three two hour classes (Sundays from 8-10am) chock full of knowledge and maybe some halfway decent jokes

  • An assortment of high quality pencils and pencil paraphernalia

  • More erasers than you can fit in one hand

  • Reference photos created especially for this class

  • A menagerie of high quality paper with and without grids

  • Some super snazzy handouts to aid you throughout the class and into the future!

I’m so excited to teach this class and hope to see you there!
